The Host Organizing Committee has worked in partnership with Athletics Canada to provide a Run Jump Throw teaching program to Calgary area elementary schools. The program is taught by certified instructors and encourages skill development in track and field. In addition. a group of 10 schools will be chosen to receive a full day of professionally-led Run Jump Throw in-service programming at no cost. The opportunity for children to participate in Run Jump Throw will also be available at no charge as part of the Sports Festival running beside Foothills Stadium in conjunction with the championships June 29 and 30.

Schools are invited to enter teams of boys and/or girls into a Qualifier on June 27th, 2012. The top 8 teams for each of the boys and girls events will advance to the finals on Friday, June 29th at 4:30 pm as part of the official Trials schedule alongside the athletes competing that day. Run, Jump Throw Program details
When: June 4th to the 15th, 2012
Where: Elementary schools – The gym must be available for the program since set up works best when we have walls.
Time: 9:00 – 12:00 and 1:00 – 3:00
Who: The in- school program is being offered by 2 Athletics Alberta certified instructors – Teachers are required to stay to assist with supervision and for the professional development component. All equipment will be provided.
How: Bookings are now open - teachers can email and provide their school name and their contact information. Please choose 2 options for dates and include those in your email.
The first 10 schools to submit an application will be accepted and the teachers will be notified. Further information will be sent to the schools that will be a part of this program.
Each student who is a part of this program will receive an Athletics Canada certificate and a ticket to the Track and Field Championships.

The program aims to develop the foundational skills of running, jumping and throwing for children 7-12 years of age across Canada in a fun and active learning environment. Run, Jump, Throw is geared towards teaching the basics needed for any sport in which a child may wish to participate in the future.
